How do you make sure that you don’t talk about the kids when you are on holiday without the kids? It might be easy for some of you, it is not easy for us. Well to be fair I think we are better after a couple of days away. But to ensure we will not talk about the kids as much as we could, and actually grow together, as a couple, I booked ourselves to a Airbnb experience whilst in Copenhagen. The idea came up when I booked the flat we stayed in. Marc has been wanting to do lino cutting and printing for a while, and ta da it appeared as an experience on offer.
I am personally really keen on doing workshops and learn new skills, even though we are abroad and this might take time away from seeing a museum. Ands it is true that it did, but I learnt something new, which I am hoping to recreate at home. And for a few hours, it was about us exchanging on techniques, designs, drawings and applying ink. And of course, it is always interesting what people choose to draw when faced with a blank piece of lino. I opted for a map of Copenhagen, Marc for the bridge between Denmark and Sweden and the other student for a row of houses that are near the Danish Parliament. Same technique, totally different outcome.
We came home with something really unique. We have not found the right place to hang them but we will. Ands in fact, I am not actually sure we bought anything else in Copenhagen. But how wonderful it is to see these prints every time and go back to the experience. The lino cutting and printing workshop was a lot of fun. And in fact, it was also a welcome break from just being tourists and take the time to explore our creativity.
What Airbnb experiences have you tried? I am quite keen to try things, even at home!
